Villetta Sampaguita offers a complete package for
the October Alba truffle fair and Palio degli Asini (Donkey Palio)
including accommodation and tours of the Piedmont wine country including
Barolo and Barbaresco, as well as Turin and Monferrato.
The package includes airport pick-up and drop off,
accomodation with breakfast at Villetta Sampaguita, lunch and dinner
at selected restaurants, tickets for the Palio, and a tour agenda
designed to let you see some of the best attractions that this region
has to offer.

Monday 27th September

Rina Vargas and Tim Brewer. A light lunch and a
chance to stretch your legs around San Pietro village.
Welcome dinner
and wine tasting with an
introduction to some less-well known wines of
Piedmont.

Tuesday
28th September
Barolo
"The King Of
Wines And The Wine Of Kings"
|
First visit Erbaluna
winery near La Morra for a guided
tasting of biological (organic) Barolo wines, followed by
lunch at
Ristorante Bovio.
Then over to Barolo town for
browsing, then drive around the Barolo valley to Diano d’Alba
for a tasting tour of biological wines at Edoardo
Sobrino winery.

Wednesday
29th September.
Northern
Monferrato
"The Land of Saints and
Wine"
|
Leave at 9.30 for Sacra
Monte di Crea, walk around
the Sacred Mountain followed by a wine tasting
and light lunch at the adjacent Tenuta Tenaglio
winery.
Drive to the hill top town
of Cocconato with panoramic views and shopping at Conbipel
factory outlet.
End the day at the hauntingly
beautiful
Abbazia di Vezzolana, and the Basilica
of Don Bosco.

Dinner at Trattorie
Pautassi in Govone.

Thursday 30th September
Turin
"Italy’s Best Kept
Secret" |
A 30 minute drive to Turin,
the old royal capital of Piedmont and Italy with its baroque
piazzas and many palaces.
We will drop you in the centre
of the old town for shopping or visiting the many museums
& galleries.
Visit the EATALY food gallery on
the way home .

Friday 1st October
Alba and Barbaresco
|
Leave at 9.30 am for Alba and
a guided tour of the medieval city. Lunch at Ristorante
La Piola. Time for shopping.
Then a short drive to Barbaresco
and Marchesi di Gresy winery for wine tasting.

Dinner at Il PostoGiusto
Bistrot in Govone.

Saturday 2nd October
Truffle Hunting and Cooking Class
|
Leave at 9.30 am to Cisterna
d’Asti to meet our truffle hunter and follow him into
the woods to look for truffles followed by tasting at Vaudono
Winery. Light lunch in town and back to Villetta
Sampaguita.

Sunday 3rd October
Palio degli Asini
|
Late breakfast then leave
around 10 am to Alba and Truffle Fair. Spend a couple of hours
sniffing truffles, tasting delicacies and wines.
Light lunch of your choice,
then watch the spectacular medieval parade, through the old
town and take your seats for the heats and final of the Paglio
degli Asini bareback donkey race – what
a hoot!
