Experience the Roero district of central Piedmont on two wheels

The Roero hills provide a wonderful terrain for bicycling and motorbike touring, with vine-covered hills, beautiful hilltop villages with panoramic views of 3 Alpine ranges, and above all some of Italy’s best regional cuisine and wines. For bicyclists the rides vary from easy hills and flat valleys, to some more challenging hill climbs. A short drive allows you to access easily exceptional rides into the western Alps. Motorcyclists will be in heaven with the range of panoramic rides.

Villetta Sampaguita is located along the Roero ridge with its string of castles. Govone is in the centre of the ridge and this country is bicycling heaven riding from town to town, stopping along the way for a café, a glass of wine or a gelato.

Looking for a longer ride? Cross over the Tanaro valley to Barbaresco, 30-60 minutes ride or follow the main Roero road down to Barolo about 90 minutes.

We have two bicycles available for our guests to use and can arrange e-bike rentals for those who need a boost, or you can bring your own wheels.

We do have a secure covered shelter for bikes with cycle racks. And we have a cycle carrier for cars available for getting to more distant destinations.

We can provide maps and list of suggested cycle routes, plus places to see, restaurant and winery recommendations.

There are also Trail Bike Routes in the Roero and we can arrange trail bike rental with an English-speaking cycling guide.

Classic bike tours from Villetta Sampaguita:

• Tanaro Castles-Roero Villages - Ride through the Roero hills, first along the Tanaro river ridge studded with castles and then into the classic Roero wine country and return to Villetta Sampaguita via Cisterna Castle and San Damiano. Many places to stop for lunch and wine tasting.- Around 50km.

• Monferrato, Langhe and Roero wine country - Ride along the ridge to San Martino Afiero, cross Tanaro river, up to Costigliole d'Asti, and then to Calosso, Neive and Barbaresco, cross river again and return via Magliano Alfieri amd Priocca - 60km.

• Barolo and Roero wine country. - Ride through Roero via Canale and Santa Vittoria to La Morra, around to Barolo and via Serralunga to Grinzane Cavour Castle. Return via Alba and along the old SS231 road - 80 km
  

Motor Cycle Tours

Motorcyclists have the advantage that they can do all of the bicycle tours without needing to be transported, we have a complete set of maps for Piedmont and can make many suggestions depending on the rider's requirements
